James Maltby / Save the Children

James Michael Maltby is an educator and technologist passionate about inclusive learning and international development. He is Head of Digital Learning at Save the Children UK Humanitarian Leadership Academy. He leads an award-winning team that creates innovative online learning to support crisis response worldwide.

In 2019, James became a fellow of the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 for his work embedding immersive learning technology into technical teaching. He has presented his research at the Royal Society and featured on BBC One’s Countryfile.

At the start of his career, he was a special educational needs teacher supporting children with autism, communication and interaction difficulties. He continues to be a strong advocate for how technology can enable more accessible and inclusive opportunities for everyone.
