Amin Marei, Adjunct Lecturer on Education, Harvard University
Amin Marei is the senior director of Impact and Efficacy at Sesame Workshop, where he leads the global research needs related to measuring programmatic impact and effectiveness to guide Sesame Workshop’s evidence-based strategy for designing inclusive educational media. Marei is also a member of the leadership team responsible for guiding Sesame Workshop’s strategy for technology-enabled solutions. He previously served as the associate director of Professional Education at HGSE, leading the design and delivery of professional development programs targeting more than 10,000 educators annually. During that time, Marei was also the founding director of Harvard’s Middle East Professional Learning Initiative (MEPLI), a professional development initiative targeting teachers serving marginalized children in the Middle East and one of the largest international initiatives at Harvard. This included developing a suite of online and face-to-face professional development experiences. For his work on the design of inclusive education technology interventions, Marei was granted several awards, including the Fulbright Research Grant, MIT’s Legatum Center and Public Service Center Fellowships, Harvard’s Intellectual Contribution Award, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Interdisciplinary Innovation Fellowship.
Marei has a Master’s in education from HGSE and a Ph.D. in education, culture, and society from the University of Pennsylvania.
